CHILDREN’S & EDUCATIONAL THEATRE
Kate is absolutely ecstatic to be combining her two passions of theater and education at the Argyle Theatre! She is thrilled to get to work with children and teens of all ages and provide them with a positive and welcoming environment at Argyle where they can grow and receive a well-rounded and professional theater education. Kate is a proud graduate of Nazareth College of Rochester where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and fulfilled the requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Music Theatre. Upon graduation, Kate was awarded the Nazareth College Music Theatre Award for Excellence in the Art. Kate has also earned a Master of Science in Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Upon completion of her master’s degree, Kate was awarded the Music Education Graduate Award for Academic and Professional Excellence.
Kate has a great deal of experience both teaching and performing. She is a New York State certified music teacher for grades Pre-K through twelve. Over the past decade, Kate has directed and/or music directed for professional regional theater, summer stock, community theater, summer camps, and the East Islip School District. She has taught music to students of all ages in several school districts and is currently the voice and piano teacher at Broadway Dance Theatre in East Islip. As a director, music director, and actor, Kate is elated to create interesting, vibrant, and professional children’s theater at Argyle.
As an actor, Kate has had the privilege of performing in various professional theatres on Long Island. She has toured along the eastern coast of the United States as Dorothy in American Theater Arts For Youth’s production of The Wizard of Oz. She has also performed in summer stock theatre at Millbrook Playhouse in Pennsylvania for three summers. Kate is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Membership Candidate Program. Favorite theatre credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey), Hairspray (Penny), The Marvelous Wonderettes (Suzy), Junie B. Jones The Musical (Junie B. Jones), Little Women (Beth), Urinetown (Little Sally), The Rocky Horror Show (Janet – Kennedy Center ACTF Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Competition Nominee), Nunsense (Sister Mary Leo), Sister Act (Sister Mary Robert), and Les Misérables (Cosette – 2013 BroadwayWorld Long Island Award Winner for Best Actress in a Musical).
Kate is the Artistic Director of our Children’s Theatre productions, which are geared towards young audiences. She also leads our Argyle Academy of the Arts program, which consists of acting, singing, and dancing classes for children and teens grades K-12. Check out these classes on: argyletheatre.com/kids
